Ejisu Municipal lies at the center of Ashanti Region, on the Accra-Kumasi highway. Established under Legislative Instrument 2297 in 2018 from the former Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Assembly, it covers about 238 square kilometers and borders Kwabre East District to the north-west, Juaben to the north-east, Bosomtwe District to the south-west, and Oforikrom to the west; capital Ejisu lies about 17 km from Kumasi. The 2021 census recorded a population of 180,723, with 43.7 percent urban and the rest peri-urban or rural. In employment terms, 55.6 percent of the working population is engaged in agriculture, cultivating oil palm, oranges, cocoa, maize, rice and vegetables, alongside livestock and poultry raising.
