Pru East District is in the Bono East Region and shares boundaries with East Gonja to the north and west, Kpandai, Sene West and Sene East to the east, and Pru West to the west and south. It covers an area of about 1,097 square kilometres, representing 2.8 percent of the total land surface of the Bono East Region. Yeji, the district capital, is also a major market centre located at the brink of the Volta River, about 223km north-east of Kumasi, 213.7km from Techiman, and 493km north of Accra.
