Techiman Municipal is one of the 27 districts in the Brong Ahafo Region, situated in the central part of the region. It shares boundaries with Techiman North District to the north, Wenchi Municipality to the north-west, Nkoranza South District to the south-east, and Offinso-North District in the Ashanti Region to the south-west, covering a land area of 669.7 square kilometres, about 1.7 percent of the region's surface area. A 2017 field survey recorded a total population of 182,323. Techiman, the municipal capital, is a nodal town where trunk roads from Sunyani, Kumasi, Wa, and Tamale converge, and its dominant commercial activities are transportation, catering services, wholesale and retail trade, and mobile phone services.
