Agona West Municipality is situated in the Central Region, covering an area of 361 square kilometres, and shares borders with Agona East to the east, Gomoa West, Gomoa Central, and Gomoa East to the south, Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa and Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Districts to the west and south-west, and Achiase District and Asene Akroso-Manso District to the north. The 2021 Population and Housing Census recorded a total population of 136,882, comprising 65,502 males and 71,380 females. The key drivers of the local economy are trade and commerce, farming, accommodation and food services, and construction and real estate, with farming producing cash crops such as cocoa, citrus, oil palm, and coconut, and food crops including rice, maize, and cassava; Agona Swedru is the Municipal capital.
