Assin Fosu Municipality lies in the northern part of the Central Region of Ghana. It shares boundaries with Twifo Atti Morkwa to the west, Assin South District to the south, Asikuma Odoben-Brakwa and Achiase District to the east, Upper Denkyira East to the northwest, and Assin North District to the north, and covers a total land area of about 295 square kilometres. The 2021 Population and Housing Census recorded a population of 88,753, comprising 49.1 percent males and 50.9 percent females, with a population density of 300.9 people per square kilometre. Agriculture is the dominant economic activity, producing cassava, plantain, maize, rice, cocoa and oil palm, and Assin Foso, the administrative capital, functions as a major market centre.
