Okere District lies in the south-eastern part of Ghana's Eastern Region, with its capital at Adukrom-Akuapem. It borders Akuapem North Municipal Assembly to the south and southwest, Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly to the north and northeast, Upper Manya Krobo to the northwest, New Juaben South Municipal Assembly to the west, and Shai Osudoku Municipal Assembly to the south-east. The district covers a land size of about 330 square kilometres and, per the 2021 Population and Housing Census, has 46 localities and a population of 51,675. The local economy is primarily agrarian, with crop farming and livestock rearing as the main economic backbone, supported by small-scale trade, craftsmanship, and eco-tourism.
