Ada East District lies in the eastern part of Ghana's Greater Accra Region, bounded by Central Tongu District to the north, South Tongu District to the east, Ada West District to the west, and the Gulf of Guinea to the south. The district covers a total land area of about 289.78 square kilometres. The district capital is Ada-Foah, located in the south-eastern part of the district close to the coast. According to the 2010 Population and Housing Census, the district has a population of 71,671, and its coastal location has made fishing and fish processing the main economic endeavour for local livelihoods, with agriculture employing over 60 percent of the total labour force.
